Welcome to my World - where travel is more than a passion; it's a way of life
I was born in the Netherlands and grew up in a small town, later studying international business in Amsterdam and completing academic exchanges in both Canada and the United States. From a very young age, I was drawn to explore—whether by train or hitchhiking, I found every opportunity to see more of the world.
During my university years, I traveled throughout Europe, Canada, and the U.S., and once I graduated, I spent three unforgettable years journeying around the world. I spent extended periods living in Chile and Australia, using them as bases to explore South America, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. One of my most memorable adventures was traveling entirely overland from the southern tip of Chile all the way to Montreal—one of the cities that still feels like home to me since I studied there.
Those early travels, often done with a backpack and a paper map, were raw and real. In a time before smartphones and social media, travel meant full immersion—talking to locals, navigating unfamiliar streets, and truly disconnecting from the safe and familiar. While I treasure those experiences, I’m also grateful that the days of dorm rooms and night buses are now behind me.
After returning from my global travels, I briefly worked in the film industry before relocating to Cape Town, South Africa. There, I opened a fine dining French restaurant followed by a boutique hotel. That chapter gave me firsthand experience in hospitality, communication, and creating unforgettable guest experiences—skills that seamlessly transitioned into luxury travel planning.
Initially focused on Africa through my company More of Africa, the global shift brought on by the COVID era inspired me to expand my vision. That’s when More Getaways was born—an evolution that reflects my passion for bespoke, luxurious travel experiences across all continents.
Over the years, I’ve explored nearly every corner of the globe—from the bustling streets of Bangkok to the rugged outback of Australia, the fjords of Chile, and the timeless charm of the Greek isles. Today, I travel in greater comfort and deeper intention, gaining insights and inspiration that shape every itinerary I design.
